Background
A bit of background from Nick Cruze as well as why we focus on construction/trade businesses.
Passionately Building
By the etymology of the word entrepreneur the path is difficult. It comes from a French word meaning "adventurer”. The word means you don’t know the path ahead in all its details, but you venture regardless.
Few make it past 5 years in business (only 52%). Very few make it to a million in sales per year (about 2%).
It’s not like we don’t know this. I mean, you might not have been able to quote those stats but you knew starting a business would be more difficult than clocking into your W2 job. You knew starting ABC Electrical would be more difficult than clocking in as a W2 electrician for another year.
So why do it?
I think for most of us, it’s about freedom.
What I’m passionate about… why I built my business the way I did is to help flesh out that “why” for you.
Building a successful business is difficult in any industry. Why focus on the trades? Why construction and home service businesses?
I’ve spoken with home service companies across the nation. From San Diego to Maine, and from Anchorage to Miami.
Local service companies are facing the same challenges & opportunities across the nation. Homeowners in every market need to maintain their home. From east to west coast, people want to boost their living experience and increase their property’s value.
From Minneapolis to Dallas the process is essentially the same. If you need your house painted and don’t know a painter, you might call a friend but more than likely you’ll search on online.
You don’t search a company’s name, you search the service and probably “near me” or in a specific city or neighborhood.
I’ve been fascinated by home building and the construction process for years. So much so I donated free labor to job sites just to get around a trade in real life. Tile setting. Bathroom demo & remodel. Kitchen demo. Drywall.
